Khoo Kongsi

The Khoo Kongsi is a clan association of the Leong San Tong (Dragon Mountain Hall) clan, whose forefathers came from Sin Kang clan village in Hokkien province. The Khoos were among the wealthy traders of 17th century Malacca and early Penang.
In the 19th century, the clan complex resembled a miniature clan village, with its own self-government as well as educational, financial, welfare and social organisations.
The clan temple was built in 1906 when the Khoo clan was at the height of wealth and eminence in Penang society.

The entrance of the Khoo Kongsi is so dark but interesting. I can't imagine the temple is just inside this street.

The ornament, decoration and the amazing stone carving. Everything is just perfect.

Besides that, the mural on the walls represent the ancient chinese's life style.

Some of the detailing in the temple.

Second.......

Today is the second day I stay in Penang. I woke up at 8.30am this morning.. No mood to start the site analysis at all. Jimmy, Chin keng and I have to start our work today..
First, we took bus and went to KOMTAR and looking for JUPEM( Jabatan Ukur Dan Pemetaan Malaysia) to buy a plan of our site.
Before this, Chin Keng brings us to the famous Chendol stall for our breakfast.

After ate the chendol, all of us shared the laksa in a kopitiam. The stupid tauke force us to buy a drink ...If not, he will charge us RM0.50.

After having the breakfast, we went to the main office inside the KOMTAR. The building is quite impress for me. Eventhough the building is quite old already, but the concept of ventilation, natural lighting and space planning are perfect.

Eat again...
After we took the plan from JUPEM, we took bus and go to our site..somewhere around Gurney drive. Since there is lunch hour, we just spend some time in mamak's stall.
Not bad..and quite cheap.
Before we reach the site, we have some great time in the temple around that area.
The decoration in that building really fantastic.

Here, our site, jz between the high rise and the sea. Fantastic. Our project is have to design a international art school in this area.
Some building around the site...give me some inspiration

Social activity in the seaside. Actually, I'm not sure what is he doing at...looking for gold?

A scary doll with sad expression reflect the life of the fisherman here...i think

Let me tell you what is useless decoration. Two big steel arch rod put on the pedestrian bridge just have to show the aesthetic of his/her design. Waste money!

One of the high class private condominium around the site.

At the way back to guest house, I saw a beautiful church along the road site.
Today is a tired day, have to sleep soon.
Chin Keng went back to Butterworth..
Jimmy meet his friends...
And I spend a splendid night to write my post...I love Penang's food

First Day In P. Pinang

There is a long time I dint go to P.Pinang since I was standard 6. Today, again..I'm there to do my site analysis for my studio project.
We have departed at 6.30am morning. Urgh...Jimmy left his car's key in his car before we waiting the bus in our faculty.
There are my course mates, Yuveelai, Ujang, Balut and Ryan. Honestly, there are only 8 peoples in this large UTM bus and this is my most comfortable trip.
See, my course mates are in a sweet dream along the whole journey.
Of course, Pulau Pinang is nice place, full with chinese heritage elements, harmony and unique.
One of my course mate-Chin Keng, as a tour guide will show us where is the interesting places in Penang. Jimmy-as a mapper will guide us all the location of the places.
Before we go to penang, Jimmy has did some of the research about the accommodation. Finally, we all decided and sacrify my first night in BANANA GUEST HOUSE in Chulia Street.
OMG....this is my first time stay in guest house..not bad actually...jz
a little bit smelly in the room...
no toilet in tha room....
no TV...
and facing the main road....
Never mind....because it is cheap and the most important is I can online in the room. Yippi.
A classic timber louvers with the pigeon...just enhance the whole environment.

A view outside the window...Seriously, I hate the noise from Kedai Cermin Nam Kee.
Eeeeee..Eeeeeeee.cutting the glass...

Jimmy, chin keng and I walked around the place and tried to capture some nice photo. Even though I dint appear in the photo because I believe the photo can speak itself. One of the temple at the junction. Full with decoration...amazing..
Not only that, the back lane between two houses is so neat and clean..
This will be never happen in my home town..KL
Try to imagine the KL rubbish lane.....urgh...
Some softcapes and hardcapes create a ideal combination in architecture urban design.
How come I dint see this in Pudu Raya?...sad.

There are many shophouses houses in Buckingham street and Pintal Tali road.
Somehow, I found some interesting decoration in the corner of the temple.
This is my first day trip.... Tomorrow, I will be going to the site and do the analysis..
Have to sleep now...

My Assignment

This is staircase modeling for my previous project that I did in Negeri Sembilan.
The staircase is more than 90++ years and the aesthetic value is priceless.

This are some of the tiles on the staircase and hopefully this pattern can become the logo of our group.

This is my favourite pattern so far

Next post will be my model making.

Stupid Internet Explorer

Today, I saw some bloggers have complained about the stupid IE:

-So apparently, this template is all wonky in Explorer on Windows, with text disappearing into the margins etc, even though it looks fine in every other f***king browser. I only discovered this when viewing it from a PC on campus.

-IE suffers quite a bit from the tendency to notify the users of various things via an OK-button-only MessageBox. Even worse, many of those dialogs have clunky messages, no help links, and "Never show me this again" checkboxes.

-Microsoft unvelied today their plans to include anti-malware protection on their IE8 browser.

This should sound like good news but when you give it a little bit more thought, thinkgs are not as pleasing. Let’s begin with that the appreance of such a vast array of malware is probabbly Micorosft’s fault since they have always developed software with incredible security holes and then take enormous amount of time to create patches to fix them.

But as you keep reading this article courtesy of Cnet, you realize that all they are doing is adding more warnings when you try to do stuff. This means that I will have to click twice, three times or even more just to get the computer to download something or to perform an action I want it to do just as they have been doing with Vista.

Seriously Micrososft, coming up with a Security measure that mainly focus on the user clicking on a yes button is pretty lame
-I've had a worse problem than this in the past - with Internet Explorer refusing to load at all on a live web server, as it had been updated and the machine had not been rebooted - rather an issue when most of the monitoring and configuration tools on the server are browser hosted...

So am I,

Having serious problem in IE is not a new topic. I'm so surprise when I saw my layout in IE where firefox doesn't show any problem with that.. Is it because IE cannot support my layout or my layout's html fault?
My layout's left column is totally disappear and all my posts are hide at the down part of my blog.. Are you shy to show off youself?

I need some expert to help me......ahh..so frustrated...
